Why we host walks, talks, and workshops

There are many reasons we host events at our practice—and while some are practical, others are deeply personal.

On the surface, yes, these events provide valuable content for our patients. They help us answer common questions in a more efficient way and create resources we can share again and again. In that sense, they’re also part of our social media strategy—a way to educate, connect, and yes, market—without repeating ourselves endlessly.

These events also act as a natural entry point to our practice. If you find our content helpful or our values aligned with yours, you may eventually decide that you want Donna to be your physician. And we’d love that.

But let’s set aside the strategy for a moment.

There are less cynical—and more meaningful—reasons we put so much energy into these gatherings.

First, they help create a sense of community among people who are on their own unique journeys toward better health. That kind of belonging is rare these days—and you can’t just stumble into it. You have to build it, often from scratch. And that’s what we’re trying to do: create space for connection, conversation, and shared growth.

On an even more personal level, we host these events because we want to be healthy, too.

Doing things we enjoy—like walking through our neighborhood, discovering local gems, and sharing meaningful conversations—feeds our spirits and keeps us grounded in the values that brought us to this work in the first place. These are things we’d do even if we weren’t running a private practice. They’re things we want to share with our kids. And they’re things we hope to share with you.

When we talk about health, it’s not always at the clinical level—Donna’s the expert there—but we talk constantly about the philosophy of health: how to live well, how to build habits, how to care for ourselves and others in real, everyday ways.

So, if you ever find yourself wondering why we’re hosting a walk, a talk, or a workshop, just know:
Yes, it’s for you.
Yes, it’s part of the business.
But it’s also for us—as a way to stay creative, connected, and well.

And we hope you’ll join us.
