Donna Mayeda, MD DipABLM

Aloha! I’m Dr. Donna Mayeda, but you should just call me Donna. I’m a board-certified internal medicine and lifestyle medicine physician, and the founder of Ke Ola Noa Direct Primary Care. I started this practice to create the kind of care I always wanted to give — where patients feel heard, appointments aren't rushed, and health is something we work on together.

Over the past 7+ years of practicing medicine, I’ve come to believe that healing starts with trust, time, and good communication. I'm fluent in Cantonese, medical Spanish, and the ways of the Force. (But don’t worry, I only use my Jedi powers for good.)

I’m deeply grateful to call Hawai’i home and to serve this community. I take a whole-person approach to health, combining evidence-based medicine with lifestyle interventions like nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management. Whether you’re managing a chronic condition or just looking for a doctor who actually knows your name, I’m here to support you on your health journey.

Outside of work, you can find me cooking up something plant-based, chasing after my three energetic kids, or watching Star Wars Episodes I through III (yeah…I know, but the storyline is good).

Mahalo for considering Ke Ola Noa — May the Health be with you!

Oh snap, he’s a sort-of-doctor too?!

Hey yo, I’m the behind-the-scenes glue holding Ke Ola Noa together—part tech support, part logistics guy, part emotional support human. I don’t have a medical degree, but I do have strong opinions about fonts and patient experience flowcharts.

I’m the one making sure things run smoothly while Donna focuses on caring for patients. If you notice the lights on, the bills paid, or the Wi-Fi working—it’s probably me working my mojo.

When I’m not wrangling practice logistics, I’m curating bonsai, watching Port Protection, or explaining to someone for the 20th time what “direct primary care” means.

  • Donna Mayeda was born and raised in El Monte, California—home of tacos, tire shops, and a level of smog that builds character. She sharpened her brain at Harvey Mudd College (yes, that nerdy one), got extra smart at Duke (go Blue Devils!), and somehow ended up in South Carolina for medical school, where she learned how to be y’all’s doctor.

She completed her internal medicine residency at Harbor-UCLA, where she was chosen as chief resident—a role she describes as “like winning Employee of the Year—except the prize is more emails and less sleep.”

So while Donna didn’t grow up in Hawai‘i, she brings a mainland mix of street smarts, Southern hospitality, and SoCal hustle—plus an uncanny ability to navigate any freeway system—right to the heart of Ke Ola Noa.

  • That one’s easy: Hufflepuff, poke, Ted’s chocolate haupia pies, and chai tea lattes
